I rarely ever sit down to watch a movie. Recently, however, my guilty pleasure when my husband is away is making a big bowl of pasta and watching a chick flick all by myself. A few weeks ago, I sat down on my couch and started scrolling through Netflix. They recommended the movie Ibiza, so I said “what the heck” and turned it on.

The movie follows Harper, a career-conscious millennial from NYC, as she pursues a famous DJ throughout Spain while on a business trip. Her two best friends tag along and hilarity ensues.

At the beginning of Ibiza, I was reminded of my own trip to Spain a few years ago. A few girlfriends and I traveled to Madrid and Barcelona, experienced the nightlife, and had a ton of fun. In fact, the hotel that the friends stay in in Barcelona looked oddly similar to the one I stayed in in Barcelona.

For a while, I was staring at the main character (played by Gillian Jacobs) to try to figure out where I knew her from, until I finally looked her up on IMDB. As it turns out, she played Adam’s artist girlfriend, Mimi-Rose Howard, on HBO’s Girls (among many other things).

All in all, I thought the movie was cute, but a little cheesy, which was exactly what I expected. It reminded me of the fun times I have had with my girlfriends. I would recommend watching Ibiza with your favorite gal pals and a glass of wine.

What do you think I should I add to my Netflix watch list?

Cheers!
